Treating Rheumatoid Arthritis, Back Pain, Osteoarthritis, and more
The goal of our pain management and physiatry team is to decrease pain and enhance performance without surgery. We take the time needed to accurately pinpoint the source of an ailment. We then design a treatment plan that can be carried out by the patients themselves or with the help of the rehabilitation physician’s medical team.
Patients who suffer from acute, postoperative or chronic painful conditions involving the spine, joints or nerves can benefit from an evaluation. Our pain management physicians conduct a thorough history and physical examination, along with necessary tests to help develop the best treatment plan.
Conditions treated include:
- Back, neck and nerve pain
- Brain and spinal cord injuries
- Arthritis and osteoarthritis
- Pain from rheumatoid arthritis
- Sports, work, and personal injuries

Interventional Pain Management, Medical Director of Pain and Rehabilitation -Mercy Medical Center Meet Dr. Albino
Tracy Matsche explains how she was unable to do the daily life functions such as get out of bed or bend over, due to lower back pain for many years. Dr. Rodney Lefler and Dr. Juan Albino evaluated her joints and found that her arthritis on the spine was causing her pain. After having a rhizotomy, an in-office procedure performed by Dr. Albino, she is able to go about her daily life pain-free.
Cynthia Bohringer woke up with excruciating pain, so much so that she could hardly take five steps. After being referred to the Neuroscience Group, Dr. Randall Johnson suggested surgery within minutes of observing her MRI. Cynthia was experiencing ruptured discs and required immediate surgery to prevent paralysis. After 8 weeks of physical therapy, she was back to work. While at work, Cynthia re-injured some nerves, so she had another surgery to implant a neurostimulator to help manage her pain. Because of that, she has her life back.
Marc Malnory was referred to Neuroscience Group after being diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia. Normal sensations, such as touching his face, brushing his teeth or eating and drinking resulted in intense pain. Dr. Steven Price, neurologist, got Marc on a medication regimen that helped only temporarily. Dr. Randall Johnson then proceeded with surgery. Marc’s pain was gone almost immediately, and he’s very satisfied with the results.
After dealing with chronic lower back pain for most of her life, Jill Lauterborn of Appleton came to see Dr. Albino at Neuroscience Group. Dr. Albino put her on a course of action that began working within weeks, and she has never felt better. Coworkers and family members can notice a difference.
